calling all points experts. spark issue I can't figure out
78 750, with ND ignition. I had very intermittent spark on 2-3 coil which would make the bike fall on its face over 4k rpm. I hooked up my timing light and on both #4 spark plug lead and #3 were showing 1-4 in the sight window. I ordered up replacement points and condensors from Z1, installed them, set the time, and the bike ran great. Timing light showed properly #4 lead 1-4 in the window and #3 lead 2-3. Couple rides later the bike is falling on it's face again so I pulled off the points cover and it's back to only showing 1-4 in the window with the light. Did the new parts already fail or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks in advance.Tags: None

Did you put some grease on the points cam when you installed the points? If you didn't you've probably worn the rubbing block down enough that it's altered the gap, and therefore the timing.
Check the gap again on both sets, and make sure the cam is greased.
