    In the middle of installing an SH-775 on a 1979 GS1000 - now I have a question...

    Background:
The pre-1980 GS's have a separate regulator and rectifier.

So the SH-775 is all mounted up and looks schmicko. The alternator connections and DC power output connections will be straightforward.

It's a few little wires that I need some advice on.
On the existing setup, a red power wire came out of the rectifier and split into 2 red wires, 1 to the ignition switch, and the other 1 to the fuse box. Once I disconnect the old rectifier I no longer have a source of power for ignition switch and fuse box. Should I reconnect the old red rectifier output wire to the +ve battery terminal?

    Thanks in anticipation.

The connections ars xhown in a schemation in a link in my signature. The connection you are referring to is called the "T". You sent to reconstruct that, but make sure there is a fuse between the battery an "T" as shown.

      Thanks Pos,
Also good info in there relating to grounding of the installation.
