    82 GS1100e starting problems

About a week or so ago, my bike starting having some starting issues. At first it'll fire right up, ready to ride. After I stop and go to start the bike again, it will crank very slow and make a clunking sound, no cranking, no anything. When I bump start it, it runs just fine, no issues or anything. I just replaced the battery 2 days ago, trickle charged it overnight and put it in the bike, still has the same issues. I don't know if this could be that the stator is dead, or if there is another issue with the bike. Any info helps, thanks.

Charge your battery up and do this simple quick test and report all 6 results- sounds like weak charging.

the "clunking" might be internal to starter motor or related to starter clutch itself , maybe just due to weak battery on restart.

I just ran the tests, when it was cranking it dropped to about 7 volts. At idle it stayed at 11 volts, and throughout the rpm's it stayed at 11-12 volts.

Your charging system is not working. Get the battery on a separate charger and verify it can still achieve a full charge. You need to do the stator and R/R tests to narrow down which if not both components are bad.

Overwhelmed yet? For starters, see this link to wet your appetite, this is a real common issue but easily fixed once you understand suzuki's gremlins
