yes but re you testing from the signal generator itself or the plug that attached to the ignitor?
Still could be a bad wire.

same results via the plug or generators them selves, toook it off looked at it and bike is currently running next to me, so ill let it run till it gets warm. i now have proper ohms at it.... ill see if it dies again and loses its ohms , will reply shortly

I have had a signal gerator die but never an igniter
bought a parts bike from a member here that had a dead ignitor though
Funny he said it ran but there is no way it could have
oh well live and learn I only wanted the nmotor anyway

GS 500s of a ceratin age range use the same module for the coil so that is a parts possibility. You can just solder a good one into the current harness. I gave one to a guy on here a long time ago and it worked fine.

There are a few whole units on ebay at present but the price reflects the rarity and importance of the parts.

ok so ran it, had good ohms at it, shut it off and let it sit a minute and no ohms and no start on one of the pickups, so i take it thats a confrimation its bad. its weird tho i thought they were setup in a way that if one pickup dies 2 cylinders would still fire. Or is it if one dies the ignitor says "nope no fire for you im misssing signal"?

Mine ran fine on 2 cyls with one pickup bad.
Can you do a check to see that no wore has meltd and is going intermittently to ground where it wraps under the engine and up to the ignitor side?

this should work fine as it appears to be identical
I would try and find a gs 500 manual test proedure for the resistance for that appliation.

Suzuki is famous for using a parts bin approach to engineering tohough so its likely the very same part.

the earlier gs 500s apparently had two coils and this was later switched to one.
