compufire regulator wired strait to the battry?

Hi I just replaced both the stator and the r/r on my 82gs 850gl and left all the harness connections bare can I wire my compufire regulator strait to the battry along with the ground or do I have to incorporate the harness connections.

Not seeing much charging going on but may be the battery as its a few months old and has been killed completly at least 2 times

Glad you found it. Wiring to the battery will work fine but could cause real problems under certain circumstances, not a good idea. Hope it's all sorted out now.

well I got it fixed just editing the post to explain exactly what was wrong

installed the stator slightly twisted from where it should have been mounted and one of the legs was grounding to the case took it off and redid it and everything works perfect
