    I don't know if you can buy paint thinner or "mineral spirits" there, but it works ok in a pinch.

      Think I have found the problem. removed the carbs again and found the choke ports in 3 of the bowls blocked despite the fact that they were clear when I cleaned them the first time. have them soaking overnight and will put them back on tomorrow night. will keep you posted.

            Another fine example of why you tare it down completely and do it right the first time. Glad it's working now.
