Good connection can make or break a bike
For the longest time, my GS650 was only running on half power from two of the cylinders. Everyone I took it to, including a "mechanic", thought it was the carbs. Turns out there was a bad electrical connection that was shorting it out. I've had to replace the blinkers, however after doing a spotty patch job - by feeding the flux wires from the running lines into the conductor for the blinkers, it's beginning to bog and not respond with full power again. I guess I'll have to undo this thing again.Tags: None

Humm, never heard of a turn signal causing running problems. Good luck with the repair but seems like an odd fix.Ed

Remove gas tank and seat, clean connections to ignition coils and onwards to 4 way plug that connects coils to ignitor. Unlikely that turn signals are involved here- they should be on a different fuse. Check for spark at all plugs, make sure mechanical advancer is not sticky to rule out ignition as culprit. Have you had the joy of pulling and cleaning these carbs ?1981 gs650L
