Odometer problems
Been trying to figure out what to do about the non functioning odometer and trip meter on my 85 gs 750ES. The speedo works just fine. The speedo sits in an instrument cluster and the only access to it is to take off the cluster face plate which involves removing the needles. I tried this on a spare cluster I have with a working odometer. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way of wiggling the needle off the speedo to get the face plate off and I accidentally broke the needle off. Good thing it was the spare cluster. Now I'm pretty reluctant to try and get the needle off of my good working cluster on the bike. Any ideas on anything else I can try to get the odometer working ? Put a new cable on already.Tags: None

Did your spare work ok? I would make a needle for it, if it does rather than attempting to swap parts. My score is about 50/50 mixing and matching bits and so, rather than sending you into danger, I would forego the odometer if the speedo works...get something from a bicycle/ebay to serve as odometer...
But if you must, a fork like device under the needle works IF you are careful to pack cardboard under it and ensure it is always lifting...I have a set of clamping forceps I put on the shaft to ensure I am levering it straight up.
