    [ASK] GS400S CDI Part Number

hi guys, im new here, i really need to know this before buying my new bike.
first the story of the bike..
the seller told me that this bike Code Name is GS400S but he said that he forget the year of Production
I already Searching over net, and found that gs400s is about 84-86 with twin cylinder. But Mine was 4 Cylinder.
it makes me confuse because I really didnt Know about this bike before. I live in Indonesia so GS400S is rarely here, most of suzuki bikes sold here are GSF, GSX, GSXR. so the condition of this bike is running, but the CDI is using Dual Shogun CDI. and I really need to know about the CDI Part number of my Bike. do you guys know about it? it seems you are really master about this bike

and also i heard that before, GS400s is the same bike as gsx400?? is it true or just wrong information?

    Regards, Me

Most likely it's a GSX400 but it could also be a GSF400. Can't say for sure based on the information you have provided. Photos and a VIN number would help.

I have never heard of a "Dual Shogun CDI". This is very confusing, especially since that bike did not have a CDI. Again, more information is needed.

thanks for replying. dual cdi shogun is mostly people trying to trick without using the original CDI in Indonesia. yeah its so rarely to do.
the bike did have a cdi but its not the original. its like a trick to make the bike running. but its just hold for a 3-4month and then its dead.

A CDI is a very specific type of ignition system. Most common on dirt bikes. Suzuki did not use a CDI on that bike originally, they used an electronic ignition with IGNITOR.

Take some photos and load them up on Photobucket and then link the IMG code here. We need some shots of the bike so we can try to identify it, including shots of the VIN sticker. Also, some shots showing the ignition.

You might be in trouble with the ignition because many GS bikes went to ignitors with the advance curve built in. Please look at the pick up coils and try to see if there is an advance unit behind the plate. If there isn't, then you need an ignition with advanced curve built in. The only such ignition available in the US is the Dyna 2000. Only I'm not sure it would fit on that bike.
