Running temp of SH775, touching battery?

What's the operational temp of the SH775 on a 450? Im relocating my battery and it will be touching the regulator. It isn't laying on top of it, but it's touching perpendicularly, about a 1mm strip across the width of the battery is in contact and I don't know if it generates enough heat to damage the cells. TIA. I'll post a pic in the morning if this description isn't very clear.

Mine is barely above ambient temperature. Except the time I wired it up wrong....

Thats great to hear. I've just read so much about making sure they get ample airflow, and about the stock ones burning up so I assumed it was pretty hot. Thanks.

I've touched mine a few times after coming in from a ride and it's always been cold. I would imagine it only heats up when the battery is run pretty low.

Can you trim the R/R fins to eliminate the contact? Regardless of the temperature it would seem prudent to avoid anything metal rubbing on your battery case.

I'll post a picture of how it sits tomorrow. I was cutting my battery holder out of galvanized steel and sliced my finger open when the drill bit in and spun it so I stopped for the night. I don't have easy access to a welder so I've been using strips of steel wrapped around the frame (kindof like hose clamps) to mount things.

I was curious as well
I hooked up a 775 over the weekend, I shot my temp gun at it earlier and it said about 120F, after about a 15 min ride. About 90F out, slight humidity
Maybe it just runs a little hotter if you sit in some traffic

Agreed. They don't get very hot at all, but if it's making any contact, vibration will chew a hole through the plastic battery case very quickly. And that's not good. You could trim a fin, but relocating would be best.
