    start button stopped working

OK so like the title says my start button stopped working. It WAS working rode fine on the bike for about a week. Then I removed the blinkers on the bike, now it will not start with the start button I can get it to roll start and runs fine after that. but I'm not sure as to what has happened dose anyone have any pointers? Bike is a 1980 gs550e

Take the switch apart and see. Usually dead spiders in there blocking the contacts. Sometimes corrosion on the contacts. Sometimes dead corroded spiders.

But if you did something electrical and the starter quit working at the same time, I would double check everything that you did.

All I did was cut the wires that work the turn signals (where they were only twisted together not even taped) but I will check the box asap thanks

Might have jostled the connector with the starter wire, or maybe the one to the clutch danger switch if you have that.

If you cut the wires to the directional so you probably cut the clutch interlock wires also. Go into the headlight and unplug the clutch wires from the switch and plug the two together. (Yellow w/ green stripe)

That should still have the kick-starter, no? You don't need the e-start then.
