Stalls hot has to cool down to restart .

Hi , all I have an 82 gs 550l . The bike ran great for 4 seasons but this year it's giving me a bit of trouble . Runs like new for about the 1st 10 miles I stopped at a stop light and it stalls ,after cooling down fires up and I rode it home running great . I think it may be an igniter or the pick up coil . also noticed when its acting up it seems to want to fire after I let off the start button . I'm leaning towards the igniter any help with some tests. Thanks Vince Ps

I agree it's probably the igniter. The later 550's were known to have issues. If it dies completely, then I doubt it's a coil or an individual pickup. Don't know of any reliable tests on just the igniter since the later igniters also controlled timing. I see a Dyna ignition in your future.

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)
