Stator question

I am looking to get a stator for an 8 valve 750. The stock one is 12 pole, i believe. When searching on E-Bay many that came up were 18 pole. One listing claimed it would fit 77 through 80. Is it possible that an 18 pole would fit my bike? If so would it be a better choice? Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

Hmm...I have a 12 pole Electrosport for GS550/750/850 76-ON sitting next to my desk. (ESG015) You need the correct number of poles to get a result you will like.

No, an 18 pole stator will not work on a 12 pole hub. You'll get no output.
