    Whats this wire for?

    I checked the colored wire diagram on bikecliffs site and still cant figure out where the white/red or the white/green wires go to. I see no missing components. All the lights work. Bike starts and runs fine. I was worried they went to the charging system and I had just did a dumb.

    Yes, those are charging system wires. You should rewire the system bypassing them. Try a search here looking for info on how to properly rewire your charging system bypassing what we call the headlamp loop or stator loop. This is an important mod to assure your main harness doesn't overheat and cook itself as a result of Suzuki botching the charging system wiring.

      Actually, it looks like someone already removed the loop up to the headlight and those are the leftover loose ends.

      I'd need a wider view to understand exactly where you are on the bike.

        That what I hoped was going on. This is at the middle of the bike.

        I used my tester to make sure it was charging and it is. As long as its above 13v, it should be fine. Right?

          Well, there's "fine", "finer" and "finest".

          Yes, over 13 would be "fine", but it should really be over 14.

            It goes up when you bring up the rpm.
            I'm looking into the relay coil mod and wanted to insure the basics where covered first.
            (on that thought)
            The coils are always hot and the crank sensors provide a ground/signal. Right?

              Check the white (yellow by now) connector under the gas tank for signs of melting too. That is where those wires end up. Early models they went up to the headlight, later (80?) there was just a jumper there.

                The two big leads on the top of the starter relay appear to be leaving the relay in the same direction. This is not good. I would get the positive, red capped ,one going 180 degrees from the starter motor supply. Is the positive terminal on the battery to the back or front ?

                    Bottom centre of your second picture is the starter relay. It has two big wires. One is connected directly to the battery positive, is permanently live and has a red cap on it to keep it insulated from accidental touching with tools or whatever. The second wire heads off to the starter motor. It's a good idea to keep these two wires apart and normal practice is that the second wire heads forward to the starter motor and the one with the red cap goes back, 180 degrees away from the other and heads up to the battery positive which is usually towards the back of the bike. The way yours appears wired that lead and the red fused wire head up to the front which makes me think the battery is possibly the wrong way around with the positive terminal to the front.

                      Yes, that is "normal practice", but this is a 450. The battery lives UNDER all that mess and is not wired the same way as the larger bikes.

                          OHHH! ok, I get it now. Thats the best that I could do with the space I had. As Steve said, things are kinda tight around the battery.
