My old plugs never had a cap on them, these new ones i picked up did. But i took them off, any reason for the change?
Also, anyone have an issue with tightening them? My old ones would tighten about half turn from mild hand snugging. These, feel like they keep wanting to tighten. Weird.
So i just tightened them to around what my old plugs were at. Thread lengths are the same, should this be ok?

When in doubt use a torque wrench. The spec should be in the factory service manual.

Maybe just the compression washer..... compressing?

+1. Anything that has a torque value in the manual gets torqued to that number. The engineers and technical writers didn't put those numbers in just for show, they really meant for people to use them. That said, I can't find a torque for the spark plugs in my 1100E service manual.

Are you talking about a cap on the end of the plug that connects to the wire? If so, that cap comes off using a pair of pliers to unscrew it.
