    Fuel gage needle

    Having problems with fuel gauge needle on clock registers sometimes then goes to show way below enpty was working fine and happend when I removed tank.Connectors look to be clean and good any ideas

    Mine is very touchy. I would suggest first removing the tank and double checking that the connections are very solidly put together. Beyond that we are waiting for more expertise.

      Just discovered when I pull in the clutch lever the needle rises and when I let clutch lever out it goes back down complete mystery as its cable operated.

        One of the wires may be opening up as the clutch cable flexes and moves the wire position.

          I had the one on my Cooley stop after removing the tank. All looked good to the eye but what happened was the wires re crimped into the bullet connectors tore. You may have just a few wires left and they wont carry enough voltage for the gauge to work properly..but still let it get some sporadic voltage that makes it twitch now and then.

          I had to replace the connectors and I soldered them too when i did the repair. Worked perfectly after the new ends were installed.

          I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
