    New member suggestions

Hi everyone new member here just looking to see if you might know about my charging problem.
My bike is a 83gs1100ez with the battery light on.
I found the green w/white wire burnt and broken at the connection. The wires coming out of the r/r are brown(hot or burnt possibly) so I'm thinking just replace it. Any suggestions would be great.

Welcome to the Brotherhood. Whats the history on your Bike ?

    Read all this....http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ewbie+mistakes

1982 is a EZ. 1983 is a ED. The foot peg in your picture is a ED.

That green wire / red plug is a battery sensor. It goes in one of the battery cells or eliminate it and connect the wire to the "+" battery terminal and the indicator light should go out.

That sensor wire does not indicate a charging problem, it is there to show low electrolyte level.
Unfortunately, it only monitors one cell, so even that is of questionable value.

Your best bet in a battery is a sealed AGM-type, then connect that sensor wire to a SWITCHED power supply.

I recently purchased the bike from an old man who stopped riding it years ago due to a disability. It's a low mileage (15,001) fairly stock ujm... Just what I was looking for!. It was always serviced at a race shop in Southern California. It has a supertrap stainless steal "light" race full exhaust, and a dynojet kit w k/n filters. All parts even came with all original paperwork with parts numbers , and a real Suzuki maintenance manual in a real Suzuki binder...lol I thought it was pretty cool
So far I've painted a few parts bought a new chain, and will be getting tires and a r/r then some more stuff here and there...

Wow, amazing deal. Looks like a stainless steel Supertrapp header and Works shocks! Those two parts are easily worth more than what you paid for the whole bike.

Yeah it's stainless, I love the exhaust on this thing. It purrs at idle and wakes up anytime the throttles open. The jet kit is spot on too, not a hiccup or backfire all the way up to redline. Where would the previous owner find shocks like this?

Yeah, the wires coming out of the RR look really cooked, I would do some tests on the RR and stator or I would just upgrade the charging system and be done with it. Gonna have to redo some connections as well in the process.
