The Shindengen is considerably more burley than the original R/R. It takes up a lot more space. Is it so close to the fusebox that heat from the R/R could damage the fusebox?

I'm hoping the current setup is okay before I start looking at other options.1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser

Are you putting it on the L? If so I've put one on each one of my L's and they've bolted up where the original came off.
I put a bolt in one side loosely and slightly bent one tab out a smidgen and drew them tight. Worked like a charm.Alan

It should be no problem. I feel that they run a fair bit cooler than a stock R/R.
It's not hard to move it under the battery. Easiest way is to remove the battery box. Of course, to do that, you have to remove the flasher and control unit that hang on the right side, then remove the ONE bolt that holds the solenoid plate to the battery box (might be behind the R/R in its current location), then lift the battery box out. Mount the new R/R so the terminals face the left side of the bike.

Thanks for all the replies. I have cleaned the fusebox and will give it a try like it is after I put in the stator today. This is on the G.1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser
