Charging Help?!? GS650
I don't think the bike is charging correctly. I've done BassCliff stator pages, Ohmed the stator out my readings were .8ohms on all three legs. I ohmed out the 3 legs to ground, they were O.L. and I tested the AC voltage at 4k, which was a fluctuating around 65ACVOLTS. Now, I have the R/R grounded to the frame, then a wire going from the same spot on the Frame to the Negative post on the Battery. At Idle charging voltage is 12.3, at 4k its 12.8. Should I just go ahead and replace the stator and voltage regulator? I just inquired this bike about a month ago from a kid that tore it all apart. I bought the bike in boxes. Help would be greatly appreciated.Tags: None

The standard, no-load output for the 650 stator is 80 VAC, so it seem like it isn't up to snuff...as to why, it could be the R/R went belly up first.
You'll probably see if the stator is really toast when you open the cover.
I'm sure there are other things you could check, but I think it's safe to think that you'll end up replacing both.'83 GS650G

65 VAC is low. I'd get a new stator and a SH775 R/R. Also rewire the charging system to eliminate voltage loss. There are at least 10,000 posts in the archives talking about charging system problems, including how to find a SH775 for cheap and how to rewire the system.
Good luckEd
