    Gear Indicator Leaking oil

    Hi
    On my 1986 GS750ES my gear indicator is leaking oil. I've changed the o ring and tightened screws, but still a leak. I'm guessing maybe part is fatigued with age, or maybe a crack? Wondering if I could put a bit of liquid gasket in the area of the o ring? Is this part still available new?

    Parts fiches dont show a 750ES in 86. anyway, it wont hurt to smear a little RTV around the flange area of the unit and the engine case to seal it up. Also degrease them both well and inspect the switch for cracks in the plastic housing

      Not sure if they still sold them in Oz in 86, but they did in Canada:

      Current:
      Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha :eek:)

      Past:
      VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
      And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

          Put a new o-ring on the unit
          Whoops already done
          The unit may be cracked
          1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
          1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

            He said he did do a new oring and its still seeping
