Unlikely to be valve related but regardless, it's critical that the valves are properly adjusted.Ed
To measure is to know.

I did not replace the intake boot orings, and i have not yet changed the valves.
I just finished that rebuild on the starter as well as replacing the oil and oil filter.
So basically it just looks like i should replace the intake boot orings and do a valve adjustment.. But you said that the valves would most likely not be it.. and it doesnt seem like orings would cause backfiring?

Did you follow the carb rebuild tutorial when rebuilding the carbs? Fully ungang the carbs, soak in carb dip, reassemble with all new O-rings?
Realize of course that since the bike has pods that it won't run for crap until it's properly rejetted. Do you have a full inventory of all the jets installed right now and have you compared the numbers to those that came in the bike originally?
Doing maintenance is critical. You can't diagnose running problems on a bike that doesn't have all the maintenance up to date.Ed
