You need to figure out what needs to be powered on the new speedo, then find which wires on the bike do that function, then connect them.

Be aware that some of the stuff on the stock bike switches the ground side of a light, rather than the hot side. Your new unit appears to be all LEDs, so polarity is critical.

If I remember correctly they go to the reed switch for the auto cancel of the old turn signal control unit. Just unplug them, they won't work with the new speedometer. If you have turn signal problems later it's because of the turn signal control module failing, and it will eventually. At that point you are better off removing the control unit. I rewired mine for a turn signal flasher for each side and use them manually. You get used to it real quick and they cancel as soon as you let go of the switch. The '79 GS850 used the same turn signal control module as the GS1000. There is tons of information on it here because I think there are very few working properly today. My '78 and '79 both failed after a short time of use.

I'm sorry, I can't find any diagrams of what I did and it's been so long since I did it that I just don't remember. I can go out and trace the circuit but it might be faster if you post a new thread about the first generation turn signal control unit for your bike. Several members have tried to replicate the unit, I believe rustybronco did a lot of work on it if I remember correctly. During those post threads some people posted diagrams of how to do the flasher modification and removing the control unit. I was looking through the search function last night and found some information but not what I was looking for. I'm waiting for a custom brace for my knee so I can get out and start walking again so it might be a while for me to get the information. Make sure you go out to BikeCliffs web site (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/) and get a shop manual that will have a wiring diagram in it. The 850 of those years shared a lot in common with the GS1000. Getting a new post out should catch someone's attention with the information.
