    1981 Suzuki gs550

Ok guys so I'm new to bikes. But im been a truck mechanic and decided to get an old bike and fix it up. So I bought this 1981 Suzuki gs550. It needs a carburetor as the old owner told me he took it apart because there was a bag in it and he lost it. So I've got to get a new one. In the meantime, I've decided I would check everything else out. So I jumped the battery off(probably needs one if those to) and charged it. While I was charging it I tried turning in the ignition to see if the lights worked and horn blew etc. So I noticed there was a green wire with a yellow line in the middle and it has a female connector on the end of it. But it's not plugged up. I couldn't find the male end, but whenever I touch it to metal it'll let the oil light light up. And the horn works and lights and everything works. I'm also missing the throttle handle, but I still have the 2 half moon shaped pieces with the engine run/off and start button hooked up. Just missing the actual handle part. So my questions:

Where does that wire hook up to?
Do I have to hold the clutch down to start it? Or if it's in neutral will it still start

Also any pics of diagrams electrical would be helpful. Thanks for helping me out
