Firing order 1979 GS 850... sorry for being a little slow.... 1243... viewpoint??

Hi I read wiring diagram and researched a little ... quick question from a Suzuki newbee... the 1243 firing pattern... if I look at the coils from behind that is to say looking towards handlebars is the top left coil considered #1 then below it #2 then the top right coil #4 below that... and the spark plug holes correspond to a numbering system 1-4 left to right facing the spark plugs holes as you face when riding... ??

    #2
The spark plugs, cylinders, carbs, anything else of which there are multiples and need to be numbered or otherwise described, are done so as if you are sitting on the bike ready to ride.

Yes, #1 spark plug, cylinder and carb are under your clutch hand, #4 items are under your throttle hand.

The left coil will fire plugs 1 and 4, the right coil fires plugs 2 and 3. The two wires on each coil both fire at the same time, it does not matter which of the two plugs they are on.

Another yes, the firing order is, indeed, 1, 2, 4, 3.

    Next question?

Dyna has one of the better reputations, but verify that you NEED them first.

The stock coils are rather robust, but can, and do, fail occasionally. If they are still working, no real need to replace them.
