The 550 diagram is similar to this..as far as ignition layout stuff. What color dyna coils did you get...what primary ohm rating 3 or ?

So what happened to your original coils? The 3 ohm versions will make the stock ignitor work harder, so when this critter gets running make sure you check out your charging system...

How will they make the ignitor "work harder"?

The stock coils are specified at 4 ohms, +/- .5 ohm. The ignitor just opens the current path, there is no real "work" involved.

Last time I checked ,the 3 ohm coils make ignitor pass more current,so it gets toastier....and the 550 ignitor ain't that reliable to begin with.

No doubt there will be a little more current, but I had no idea the 550 ignitors were problematic.

                Thanks for the eduation.

If you have sussed out the pairs then Dyna is right the individual wires to the individual terminals wont matter.

One of my favorite tools is this

I am sure the more experienced may have other ways but I bought a couple of these and they were very helpful when I was getting my bike going.

I did the same thing. I bought the same coils. For about $100 bucks its a bit of a piece of mind knowing its something that should hold out for a good bit. I had one coil go south and figured the next was probably right behind it. When you took the old ones out did you set aside the 2 wires that go to coil A and the two that go to coil B?

I contacted Dyna Directly, very helpful, its pretty easy ,i did separate the signal wires before i removed coils,on the Dyna coils wires can go on either screw, well worth the money bike runs the best it ever has

are you able to give me a description of the symptoms from failing coils? haven't touched my bike in a few months as i had electrical issues, Changed all but coils. Have already received a faulty out of the box dyna system and now trying to compare either coil or ignition problems. Seems to lose spark only after warmed and riding, will restart but cannot idle without stall.

Mine was doing the same thing which is why I finally just bought new coils. There are plenty of threads on testing the coils

Problem was mine would fail only after it got hot. I bought one of the inline light spark plug sensors at harbor fright and went for a ride just to confirm what was happening.
