    78 gs 450 wiring harness

    Hi everyone I'd like to know it a 78 gs450 wiring harness will work on a gs1000?

    I don't believe there is a '78 GS450.
    1980/1981 GS450 - GS500 Cylinder + Piston Swap - "De-L'ed", custom seat, CB350 bits, 18" rear, etc.

      But any GS450 wiring harness would not be a direct replacement

        1. Look up the parts fiche for your bike.
        2. Locate the part # for the wiring harness part(s) you need
        3. Look up part # to see which other models also used the exact same part (PartZilla has this for some parts I believe).

          The GS450 is physically smaller, the harness wouldn't be long enough.

            My old harness melted and Im gonna use it as a Donner harness I'm lengthing the harness as well

              If you're going to hack it up anyway, you can probably make it work . Again I don't know of GS450's that were made pre-1980 so they are electric ignition only going to the igniter box. Depending on the year GS1000, it could have points so that would be a big difference in how it's wired. The bigger bikes also had extra safety features (clutch, kickstand switches) as well as self cancelling turn signals, etc. in some cases.
