    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Stock, Dyna S or Dyna 2000

This has prolly been discussed in several threads but couldn't find it in search sooo... I'm thinking about getting a Dyna S or 2000 for my 82 1100e, I think the Dyna S eliminates the ignitor box if I'm not mistaken while the 2000 is fully programmable. Not sure if it's worth the cost if yer stock ign. is still working, not sure I'd trust Dyna over the stock unit, but I've heard it improves performance. Still, reliability is pretty important to me. any thoughts?
 
Personally, I'll take the stock system over a Dyna S. Dyna 2000 would be nice for a race bike since it allows you to play with spark advance curves and set a rev limiter. I don't see the point in putting one on a stock bike though.
 
A Dyna S & a set of Dyna coils & plug wires is a GREAT change over the stock Suzuki ignition parts! As in NOTICABLE in feel, starting & power. The 1100E is KNOWN for having lame coils to begin with and changing to the Dyna parts is a fantastic upgrade and one of the first I ALWAYS make on every 1100 I build, mine or customers. Worth every penny, S or 2000 system.

I'm on a 78. Had points. Key word is had. Going to the Dyna electronic ignition was the best mod I did the to bike. Feels like it barely makes a full revolution before it cranks and much smoother running. My points were probably worn out when I replaced them but no I don't have to worry about points.
 
Sorry for a hijack here, but is the Dyna S appropriate for an 83 1100es? I have some confusion about the mech. vs electronic advance, and I haven't dealt with ignition timing up to this point....Thanks!!

If you look at the "signal generator" tab of the OEM parts fishe you will see that the 1100E uses a mechanical advance unit thus the Dyna S will fit. As to whether or not a Dyna S is "better" than the OEM ignition setup, that's debatable.
 
Hey Ray, is the new 2000 ignition (blue backing plate) better in the real world than the older silver backing plate one? Thanks I think i have my parts info correct.

In my experience, the failure rate is about the same. Ray undoubtedly does more than I do so may have a different opinion.
