Testing SH775 functionality off the bike

Is there a way to determine if a SH775 is functional while it's not installed on the bike? I had a previous thread about a faulty SH775, and I just want to make sure it's dead before I pitch it. If it's not dead I'll try to determine what went wrong and try to install again.

To recap - installed the SH775 with a new stator. RR was grounded and wired correctly. Output from stator was verified good. No output at all from the RR no matter what I tried. The new stator works perfectly with the stock RR, so I assumed the SH775 was faulty.

    Thanks!

Not easily...unlike the typical diode, the scrs in the sh-775 need to be turned on internally to conduct. Sure sounds like you got a dud unit...maybe it got overloaded .

Probably. And I can't return it. I bought it last September but didn't get around to installing it until April.

If you have a cheap way to send it to me I'll test it on my bike. Do you have access to a US mailing address?

Thanks Ed. I don't have access to a US mailing address, but I'll keep your offer in my back pocket just in case.
