Spark plug wire questions

I need to buy some spark plug wire for my new dynatek coils. I noticed on DimeCityCycles that there are Silicon Jacketed Graphite, and Silicon Jacketed Copper wire. What is the difference between these different materials?

Also, what is the difference between the 7mm and 8mm diameter wires?

Graphite = resistor wires
Copper = no resistor

Your bike needs one resistor element in the system: plug caps (like stock), wires, or spark plugs. You can get away with two elements but that's not the way the bike was originally speced.

7mm/8mm is the wire diameter. Needs to match the plug caps and coils. Get 7mm unless you have a specific reason to get 8.

I just bought 8mm DW-800 wires for use with a DS3-1 (ignition) and DS1-1 (Green coils). I believe the difference is that the graphite wires are the "suppression" type and don't use resistor caps. With the Copper wire, you need resistor caps. So far everything seems to be buttoning up.

I emailed Dynatek about what Ignition system, coils, and spark plug wire to get for my 78’ GS550 simply because I was seeing different things from people and was getting confused with wire suppression stuff. They replied with this;

“We would recommend the DS3-1 Dyna S ignition system and DC1-1t, 3 ohm coils along with a set of our DW-600 spark plug wires. The DW-600 is a carbon suppression core wire that works well for most all applications. There is no need to use a resistor cap with these wires. This set comes with everything you need to complete the installation.”
