    Regulator Rectifier

    I own a 1985 Suzuki gs1150e. I am restoring the bike and noticed the plug to the rectifier regulator has gotten hot at some point and want to replace the unit.Can you Recommend a replacement unit for this bike and can you provide a method (what wire goes where) of wiring it in if it does no use the same connector?

    Shindengen SH775 is the most popular replacement, mainly because it's a series design and will not try to fry your stator.

    The adaptor harness is optional and can be got as a Triumph standard part.
    Beware of fake knock off 775s on ebay. Loads of threads here about spotting the fake, 'temperature regulated' is one give away.
    Many ex-Polaris units second hand starting from about $50.
    I would suggest you do a full check of the charging system before deciding what needs replacing. In particular if the stator is OK or not.

      I put these SH775 r/r on my bikes and they work great. Here is a link to a harness I used. https://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/E...onnectors.html

      I soldered the wire connections and covered the joins with the heat shink tubing. Nice clean set up. I am no expert here but I recommend you find the appropriate steps to test your stator too as suggested by the previous post while you are in the rebuild stage.

        The R/R linked here is not a SH775 so I wouldn't buy it. It's a shunt R/R. The devils in the details.

        This is a real SH775. Note the printing on the top.

          That one is even dirtier than the one I got...but it's a good sign that it's genuine !

            I just posted my Compufire 55402 install today. Feel free to read my thread. You definitely want a series R/R. The Compufire unit is very well made and is working flawlessly.
