'81 GS550T Mechanical Advance Unit Weight Clip Size

By any chance does anybody know the size of or if there is a part number for the small "c" clips used to hold the mechanical advance unit weights on their pivot posts?

Been having poor power / running issues that I finally troubleshot to a pretty gunked up advancer unit. Looks like water got in past the cover gasket and corroded things up a bit. Rotor shaft lube was more rust colored glue than anything resembling grease. Naturally when I removed the first little "c" clip, it shot off to parts unknown. Both clips are fairly corroded so I'm not sweating the loss since I was going to replace them anyway...just looking for size info since our local big box store doesn't carry anything that small.

    Thanks in advance...no pun intended!

No idea of the size, but you can order metric clips from McMaster-Carr; you'll get a bag of about a skrillion to your door fairly cheaply and quickly, likely next day depending on where you are. I've seen teensy-beensy clips in a VERY well-equipped hardware store, but never in metric.

If you don't have a set of metric or digital calipers, I can measure one in a few hours and report back...

Thanks for the clip source! I've got a metric caliper so I can measure the remaining old one. If they're cheap I can always go up a size / down a size and grab some extras to cover the bases and have some for a rainy day. Widget bin has gotten pretty depleted too.

Thanks again. McMaster had the size I need...100 for less then $4. Good websourse for a lot of oddball stuff!

Now you can sell sets of advancer clips for fun-n-profit. Cover the cost of a stamp plus two bucks profit...
