    GS1000s fuel gauge repair

Hey all you clever instrument types.
The bi metal strip in the 2 fuel gauges I have is fractured at one end meaning gauge not playing ball! Anyone know how to repair/ replace these?
Gauge is in tacho binnacle on my model GS1000ST. Are these parts interchangable with other models, if so, is it a very difficult job to do?
    Thanks in advance, Kiwimacchi (Adrian)

Thank fastbysuzuki- it's not the tank sender unit that's crapped out, but the actual gauge on the dash!
The tank sender is the easy bit to fix!!

I transplanted the bimetal fuel gauge from a GS speedometer into a 1000S oil temp gauge. It took some inventiveness but wasn't overly hard.

You probably have the same gauges on your ST as the E model. I can't say for sure as different markets got different set ups but take a look at photos of 1000E tachos on the interweb and if you're looks the same it is the same. If your gauges are the same as the SN model then there is no direct plug in and you're in to trying to fix the thing or make something else fit.

Gauge on ST is different to SN, which has a separate dashboard. Fuel gauge is in tach binnacle, I think same as GS850? Fuel gauge needle 'hangs' i.e. pivots downwards, unlike a lot of the other GS models, which swing from bottom.

Some UK STs had the same dash as the SNs and I believe all US STs did as well (85mph speedo excepted). Our other STs had the same dash as the E models and that sounds like the one you have. The needle does hang down from the top.

Looks like a few model GS850s share same tach/fuel gauge as 1000S. (apart from 9000 redline) Anyone got one for sale? Thanks
