    NGK spark plugs and caps

I have NGK spark plug caps, I bought some new NGK plugs stock ones that are suppose to fit. And they will not work. The little metal tip will not unscrew like the ones I have. So they are too fat for the caps to snap down on. All the numbers match. Anyone else have this happen?

Have you used pliers to remove the aluminium cap? They just unscrew

I'd bet you got ngk 3683. Check the box they came in. You need ngk 2411, that is the one with the removable nut. The 3683 has a solid terminal on top.

^ This. Both types are B8ES.

I tried as hard as I thought was safe without breaking them. They did not come off.

A quick inspection will tell you for sure, next time.
The permanently capped ones are all one peice on the cap, whereas the removeable caps are fairly obviously two parts when you look at them from the top.
It's a common enough mistake when you trust the parts guy to hand you the right ones, and half (or more) of them don't really know the finer nuances of what they're selling. "Computer says it fits, it must be right."
An handy thing though - if you get stuck in the boonies desperately needing new plugs, and all that's available are the solid top type, NGK also sell the plug caps to accomodate them. Failing that, the solid-type top is quite common in the car world, and you might find a set of four which will get you on the road again, new or used.

I bought the spark plugs on Amazon so I couldn't look at them. I sent them back and ordered the NGK 2411 I think that is what I need. I had the 3683s
