    Starter issues?

Fully charged battery, solenoid clicking, slight draw on power but no starter activity when the button is pressed. Bad starter or could it be a starter clutch. Sounds and runs fine when bump started.
1981 GS 1100e turbo, 83 motor, turbo pistons, new head, new turbo, backed and welded clutch basket, Dyna S ignition, cbr 929 front end, gsxr 750 rear end with 190 tire, all carbon fiber covered bodywork.

Check for continuity across the post of the solenoid when pushing the button. The clicking sound tells you you're getting power to it, but not if the power is being passed from the BAT side to the starter side. Carbon builds up inside the solenoid and may be keeping it from passing the current. You can bypass it by crossing the posts with an old screw driver that you don't mind getting a burn spot on it, to see if it make the starter work. It that makes the starter turn over then you need a new solenoid. Some times you can knock the solenoid a few time with the handle of a screw driver and jar some of the carbon loose, but if it works, it's just a temp fix as the carbon will build up again and cause it to fail.
