Here's what I did with mine

IMG_20200214_114507758 by Todd Cannon, on Flickr

Yep, only 1 bolt, but it's lock washered and lock tited

I went connections up, as I live in Oregon, and I figured less water/crud being thrown at it

I saw Salty_Monk mounted his connections down, but he lives in Socal

Here’s another option if there’s a tool bag plate that goes in front of the fuse block/starter solenoid plate.

I installed both 775s right where the older ones went on the two 550s in my garage.

Not sure about other bikes, but the stock regulators and the SH775 fit just fine under the battery box.

Ignore the black RTV in the lower picture. That was an FH020 regulator that was being replaced by an SH775.

As far as mounting the SH775, the tank mount on my bike is different and it will not fit.

After taking out the two RR's and the auxiliary connection, the side panel just MIGHT have enough room. I will need to measure carefully, and likely chop off that bracket next to the fuse panel.

Stator has been removed and replaced- so there is some progress with the project

Here is how I mounted my regulator/rectifier on my 79 GS1000E. I had to space it out 1/4 of a inch using a 1/4 X1" X about 3" long aluminum flat stock. I also had to relocate the starter solenoid dropping it about 3/4 of a inch. I made a small 1/16th thick steel sheet metal for that. I also had to relocate the blinker mechanism. I just zip tied it to the frame.

So Im still not at the point of wiring anything (hence, no 911 calls), but I do now have the stator in and apparently buttoned up, and now the RR. It only took a modest amount of demo to get it to fit...

Yes, that was my emergency 12volt power outlet if I needed it...
I guess however you can stick it in there is fine. It won't fit under the battery box. Not enough room, the swing arm will hit it. Good luck 👍

Maybe it's just me, but it might fit better if the bike is not standing on its front wheel.
