Largest AH battery for a 1983 GS1100E
What is the largest amp hour battery that drops into a 1983 GS1100E without an airbox. I like having a little reserve capacity.1981 GS1100E

These things are legitimately next-level. Groovy yellow color and handy extra terminals, too.
I don't think there are any motorcycle battery options with the same dimensions except taller and higher capacity. If you have more length and width space available, you might peruse the specs in detail for other options:
You might also look at adapting one of the smaller Odyssey batteries. Different dimensions, but these are widely considered among the best batteries on the planet.
Another tactic could be to fill the space with a quality higher-capacity Lithium-Ion battery. I say "quality" because there are cheap options without crucial "runaway" protections that can prevent a fire. I honestly don't see much point in lithium batteries in vintage bikes.Last edited by bwringer; 07-14-2020, 09:05 AM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I wound up with a generic AGM off of ebay from a seller with great feedback. He says he will warranty it for a year. It might be good or a bad lesson. Only time will tell. It load tests out at slightly over specs, and holds 13.1 volts after sitting days off the charger.1981 GS1100E

I've bought several ebay AGM batteries for various bikes. Never got a bad one. Sice pistons only come to compression one at a time, multi-cylinder bikes crank over pretty easy, as individual cylinders aren't all that big. I ran my old 1100 EZ with a battery that only had 175 CCA for several years.
