am i doing this right? (regulator)
got a used polaris regulator(correct one and all) and compared it to the old regulator, didnt realise how different they are, how is the polaris one fitted to the wires here?

You got a sh775?
There should be three terminals for the three stator phase inputs, any order you like.
The other pair are the positive supply to the bike main harness and a ground.
Someone posted a picture but I can't seem to find it right now.97 R1100R

Are you doing it right? Only if you stay away from the item in your lower picture.
That is your ignitor, not your regulator.
The upper picture is your R/R (rectifier/regulator). Those wires go a few inches to some connectors where you can remove your stock R/R. Mount the new unit (picture?) wherever it will fit, then run the three yellow wires (they will likely be other colors on the other side of the connectors) to the three terminals that are grouped together in the R/R. In the other connector on the R/R, the one closer to the inputs is the output. Connect that to the same red wire that your current R/R is connected to, connect the outer terminal to ground.

Depending on how much traffic this section gets in the next 24 hours, that same thread that is "just a few threads down" might be a few threads UP or even a couple of PAGES down. Very good that you posted the link, it will always find it.

Yeah thought that the right piece was the regulator but the size difference was so vast I was like maybe the whole thing is the regulator.Ian

if you connect it as the diagram describes and you have the headlamp loop you will be left with two wires not used tape them up and tuck them away the are no longer used. The big guy up there rides a Suzuki (this I know)

I have the stator now hooked up to the sh775 and now I have the black and white wire (grounds to bolt under battery), a red wire (was on original r/r) and a red and white wire (think red splits into a red and then a red and white wire )
Edit: and the white and green wireLast edited by timebombprod; 07-22-2020, 11:54 AM.Ian

Do you have three wires coming out of your stator?
Do you have three inputs on your R/R?
CONNECT THEM. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Do not connect the stator wires to ANYTHING ELSE in the wiring harness, CONNECT THEM DIRECTLY TO THE R/R.
It does not matter what color(s) is the headlight loop, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO CONNECT TO IT.
It does not matter if your stator has three different color wires or if they are all the same. Extend them if you have to, but CONNECT THEM DIRECTLY TO THE R/R.If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
