    Won't rev past 6000 RPM

Now that I've got my bike running, I've run into an issue. The bike will free rev, no problem, when riding it will not pull or go pas 6000 RPM. It bogs instantly and will not pull anymore. I first thought it was a fuel supply issue. Carbs have been rebuilt, supply line is clear, petcock is clean an functioning. No amount of jet size change, needle shimming has fixed it. Now that I'm writing this, could float level cause this problem?

The reason I posted this in the electrical forum, I was wondering if the stator issues I've read about could cause this? This bike does have Emgo coils the previous owner installed, not the parts I'd choose...could they be the problem?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

I'm sorta in the same boat here Dacls1. I'm pretty close to completing a '79 GS1000 re-do with a mono-shock upgrade. The bike has 11,000 mi's and wasnt running when I bought it. I redid the carbs adding 127.5 mains (tried 120's) stock pilot jets, needle up 1 notch. The bike has a Dyna S ignition with Accel coils which I just replaced with 'grey' 2.2 OHM Dyna's... AND I'M STILL DRAGGING RIGHT WHEN SHE NEARS 5000RPM! My timing is right, fuel lines clear... and I don't see where coasting at 4500RPM's (giving the floats a chance to catch up) would continue to cause this problem... Where's the pro's here??? Is there some sort of Rev Limiter I missed when I re-did my wire harness (complete hand made) NEED HELP PPLZ ~IMG_20200726_144405.jpg

The Dyna S is designed to work with high resistance coils. You can burn it out using 2.2 ohm coils. Doubt this is the problem to the running problems you describe but just saying...

as I was reading some other members comments, I noticed one on 'pods'... fkn PODS! again!!! lol... but I read it anyhoots. Guy said his ran better when he tried it once without the airbox? so I figured WTH. took her for a ride n nearly scared me with the top end pick-up. once she HIT 5000rpm's then she REALLY started picking up speed! time for some quality K&N's? (on my '79 CB750F build) or some slick ole velocity stacks. Gotta tighten up my pilot screws a bit yet, then some tight tuning on them Mikuni's. but basically it just wasn't getting enough air. Thanx ppl ~ IMG_20200726_144439.jpg

I got that 2.2 OHM recommend from a Katana/Bandit page, they were using Dyna's also... but good to know. I still have the Accel coils, which I obviously Know now weren't the problem. Maybe I'll switch them back up...

People on here swear by APE pods, as far as I know they're half the price of K&N
