How to extend a ht lead ?

This is not necessarily a GS question but
    could be useful ....

If I had to extend a ht lead how
    could you do it ?

[to explain imagine if you had a
petrol mower with one of those magneto / coils
where the ht lead cannot be removed and more
lead simply added. if you had cut the in situ
one and it became too short the plug cap wont reach the
    plug top]

So how can you extend the ht lead ?
how would or could you join the cables ?

I thus ask you brainy electric guys if this
    is hypothetically possible ?
