85 gs 700e tachometer freaking out
I heard that this one has like an electronic tach so no cable or something but it is kind of ok under 3500 and after that it won’t go any higher and sometimes it will go to like 6000 and then drop back down to 2 I was just wondering if I could clean the connections or replace the sensor or something and where to locate it. This is a known issue with that tach. They are electronic not analog and they always seem to go the way yours had. You might have some success with melting the solder (dry joints) but it doesn't have a high success rate. I think some have also tried substituting some of the transistors but that sort of thing is largely above my pay grade...
When the one on my 83 750ES went I switched it out for a KOSO unit (but that bike was far from stock).1980 GS1000G - Sold
