Your link doesn't work. But to answer your question: someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but It's my understanding that Suzuki replaced points w/ Electronic Ignition in all GS's from 1980 and onward.Rich

Yes the 1981 gs850gx came with the first incarnation of electronic ignition it still retained the Bob weights to control the advance and retard then I think it was 82-83 the advance retard was controlled via the igniterThe big guy up there rides a Suzuki (this I know)

I would suggest you download a Factory Service Manual from BikeCliff's Website. That site is full of useful info and how-tos for all GS's but especially for the 850G. Link in my signature.Rich
