    DIY Side Car?

Has anyone built a side car for their GS? Or any other bike for that matter?

I have young children who are always begging to go for a ride but they're way too small. They can't reach the foot pegs and I'm worried they won't hold on. So it got me thinking about a side car. Buying one is going to be out of the question, the few I found are way out of budget. But I'm wondering if I could put something together? I have enough tools to do metal/wood work. I could probably build the whole thing from scratch, but I'd rather find something I can use as the body/frame. I'm not coming up with a lot of ideas though.

Can you guys help me brain storm some body/frame ideas? I thought about using a trashcan as the starting point of a body, but that's a bit crude...

This is the best write-up I recall in recent history by gustovh on his home-made hack. Not sure how successful it was in the long run but it was fun to follow along on the journey. Sadly, I believe the pictures have gone away.

Hopefully your welding skills are better than mine.

I won't even trust putting ME on anything that I welded, let alone my kids.
