I'm a little hesitant to buy something online because I have no idea what the new bars would actually be like. Any thoughts or opinions about this?

1983 GS450E handlebars? Something a little more upright and comfortable?
I have some factory bars on my bike that are bent, and I am looking to replace them. I'm finding it very difficult to find OEM bars, since it seems like most people change them to something custom. I don't mind this, and I wouldn't mind something a little more upright and comfortable. Not something like the L bars, but perhaps something that's more "flat" like a dual-sport while still being appropriate for the GS450E. Eventually, I would like to put a little windscreen on it, too, if it matters.

but this is ok too-400Ex-1.jpg commonly available cheapies..$20-$30? with various names but really the same. Emgo is the overall brand I s'pose. OR a motorcycle scrapyard will be full of them. Paint'em black with enamel. I'm ok with either but if you're going to put a windshield on- a REAL windshield,(tall out-of-fashion) I'd get the taller bars...for one thing, low bars tilt you forward so your neck may be uncomfortably close to a screen ,for another you won't be hanging on against the wind and will feel your weight more.
Ignore fashion intraffic. The lower the bar the more you need tilt your neck to see ahead-and, it's hard to turn your head behind when it's tilted -it get's stiff. However if you are young you never look behind (or ahead) so whatever
