    Shifter interference

    Hello all,
So, my 83 GS750E is finally running well (yay!) but I'm having a strange issue. When the side stand is up, it sits right under the shift lever, and really close. So close that I can't really get my toe under the shifter. Sidestand doesn't look bent and appears to be stock. No signs of wear on the stop where it hits the mount.
    Any ideas ?

Have the the stock setup - no rear sets?
How far below the top of the footpeg is the gearshift rubber?
    Any chance of a picture?

The sidestand is about an inch or less below the footpeg

I believe trevor has a ‘83 750E. Maybe he take a pic ot the same and we can see the difference. I don’t recall any stock GS side stand having the thin wire gauge protrusion that the pic above shows. I could be wrong.

I took a pic of the only other image I found online showing that area, but sidestand is down. It does in fact have the thin gauge wire protrusion evidently stock. Imgur is being a turd on my phone right now. I’ll try to link the image. Don’t know if it will help.

My 1985 GS550EF has that small wire on it. It's what you use to lower the sidestand. Terrible design by the way......too easy to pop it into gear while putting the sidestand down! IMHO

When I die, just cremate me and put me in my GS tank. That way I can go through these carbs, one more time!https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/core/images/smilies/cool.png

Why not just raise the shifter up to give you more clearance????

Odd move shifter up but no to room.
my shifter rests on my foot just shy of the big toe joints.

If I move the shifter up then up shifting becomes an issue. I would basically have to lift my entire foot off the peg. The shifter angle is not extreme at all. I'm 6'3" by the way.
