    What Are These Called …

I know that these are called emblem clips and the cost anywhere from $2 to $10 a piece on eBay and other suppliers plus shipping . Surely this is a common item that could be purchased locally at Fastenal or some other hardware store. 050A2CDD-05B7-4E30-8AA5-47F8C579EACB.jpgWhat is the generic name for these? And does anybody have a source that is cheap for them? I need about a dozen for the project I am working on.

Speed Nuts …. Hmmm … So they’re named after half the riders in this forum!

I have also seen them listed as push nuts …

I need four for the badge emblems on the side covers as well as 8 more to attach the chrome trim on the seat rear fender trim piece.

Thanks to all … I sure appreciate the help/feedback/input.

You can make those with a sharp small chisel and thick aluminum flashing. Have done it many times.

I was installing the chrome trim flashing on the tail of my GS650G. I was missing some of the pins for the speed/push nuts. I ended up using, for a few of the holes, a couple of regular faceplate socket screws for wall plugs and corresponding size nut. I actually found these work better than the Speed nuts.

They call them speed nuts, but in reality, they are just pushed on, and hold an emblem (usually a plastic pin) in place. They are used because they are cheap, and faster to mount. Manufacturers will cut back on every penny, as they add up over the course of 100's of thousands of motorcycles.
