GS1100e gearbox oil change
Hi. I recently purchased a 1983 GS1100e. I need some instructions on how to change the gearbox oil. I have a Haynes manual but it does not have the information I’m looking for. Thank youYou do not have permission to view this gallery.

Welcome to the forum.
The engine oil also lubricates the gears, there is no separate oil. Haynes Manual may be OK. But suggest you download the Suzuki Factory Service Manual here:

Nice Bike. Looks like, from the one, low quality image, that it may have been very nicely restored, but w/ pod filters and a 4-to-1 exhaust. Does it run?Last edited by Rich82GS750TZ; 08-20-2024, 02:39 PM.Rich

Hi. Thanks for the information. The bike has only 13.4K miles. Upgraded ignition, lightened flywheel, Vance and Hines wrapped 4 into 1. If flat out screams. I ordered better front springs and rear shocks. I have to hold on tight when full throttle thru the gears. I see you have a Triumph Tiger. I had one a few years ago. A 1050. I loved that bike. I’ll check the manual that you reference. Thank you much. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Love my Tiger. Only have it since last September. Already put about 5K miles on it. Not a lot by some standards, but more than I've ever rode in a year.
Quite a few members here with both the 82 and 83 versions of your GS1100E. Stick around. You'll like it here.

"Gearbox" oil? Not on a chain driven (E) 1100. I have the '82 (painted to look like your '83) also pods, V&H, also screams. But wrapped pipes usually hides...stuff. (Mine uses black paint to hide the...stuff.)1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

Welcome Jtafaral, No worries on gearbox oil, just a shot of chain lube every now and then and you're good to go. Congrats on the "83" red, my "83" is the dark, dank, grungy, sinister, no contrast dark blue and black... Gosh it's ugggly.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. Talk about no contrast. It's like they're trying to hide the "1100" digits!
A guy was standing right next to my 11EZ, clearly admiring, and says, "750?"1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red
