    Correct Treatment For Bolts, Screws, and other bits...

    I've cleaned up the front wheel, putting it back together...

    ...I'm wondering what the best treatment is for the 6 screws holding the front disc.

    Should they be Blue or Red Loctite'd?

    Should they be copper grease-coated?

    Or for longevity, safety, and ease of future maintenance should they be treated in some other manner?

    Bang over the tabs and go ride. I've had my "T" for 20 years and have never had these bolts loosen up. But if you're worried, a little bit of blue won't hurt. If you're looking for torque specs, use the 750ET Service manual Supplement found on BikeCliff's. Top section middle column, half-way down. https://gsarchive.bwringer.com/

    The main service manual shows this:


    So yeah, maybe bend the tabs over the bolt heads instead of using a hammer.

      The plate with the tabs is for screw retention. No loctite needed. Be sure to torque properly using the spec in the book, and torque in a crisscross pattern, using two steps.

          When i strip a bike down to rebuild it i wire wheel every piece of hardware and then spray with ACF50. Sprocket covers, forks and clutch cover get it after polishing.
