I need an estimation of the weight of a GS550 engine

I've got a GS550E engine with transmission (out of the frame) that I have to move, but I want to get an estimate of the weight before I tackle the project. I can't find any estimates in any of the manuals I have -- except for the entire bike with the frame and wheels, etc.

Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate? My wild guess would be about 200 pounds.

I'd guess 87#... Remember you asked for an estimate

Your guess is as good as ours. The bike is about 450 lb.

Thanks. Apparently I over-estimated. This will makes things much easier.

If you know anyone who wants one, let me know.

The 83-86 dohc can be lifted and carried by one normal adult male.

Rule of thumb for air cooled fours of that vintage for me is 2 lb/hp.
Bit less above 650cc, bit more below 650cc

That matches precisely with what Cipher has suggested.
