can i lower my bike?
i have a gs850gl it sit a little 2 high for me im 5'8 . so i was wondering is there any way i could lower it maby a inch or 2 by chanceTags: None

You can loosen the clamps on the forks and slide the forks up until they hit the handlebars to lower the front a bit.
You can get some shorter shocks to lower the rear a bit.
You can shave the foam in the seat to narrow the front so you don't have to spread your legs so far at a stop.
That makes it feel like it's been lowered.
By the way, my wife is 5' 4" and rides her 850L just fine.

huh? thats crazy 5'4 heck im on mt tip toes trying to back it up . thats the only problem i have with it is trying to backing it up with out getting off and doing it

I am 5'8" and i have to tippy toe my bikes too..you just get used to it.. The 1000 sits highest of the three i own..they wont fall over on ya.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.
I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

You will get used to it with time, I had to do the same with other sports bikes.
The seat can be shaved down and recovered as said below...
