    Cables and such...

Im getting ready, I hope, to start a bolt-on build. No garage space since I moved back to VA. Ive ditched the old Buckhorns that were oh so cool, , for Daytonas. The cables are a bit long but for the time being were fine. I may be going to drag or clip-on bars for the Cafe/Street fighter thingie whatever look Im shooting for. Im gonna want/need newer and shorter cables for the job. I have no idea of the length and was hoping someone made a "Build your own damn cable!" kit with fittings cables and such. See how nice that tied back into the title of my thread?!?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Cables from the 750E model would probably fit better than the L cables. I don't know of any "build you own" clutch and throttle cable kits.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

When I was at the Gap in 2005, my clutch cable broke. I limped to Walkers and this is what he did:
      Cut the outside housing
Placed a new metal piece in the end, just like stock
Cut the inside line to the correct length
Brazed a new ferule onto the cable
Installed the cable and made sure it worked
Took my money and said "If I were you, I'd get that replaced as soon as you got back home".

I'd just find one approximately the correct length and go with it.

The 550M (Katana) throttle cable is a nice fit with Daytona bars and CV carbs. I don't know how the 750 clutch actuates but you might want to check out some other model bikes with low bars that have a similar clutch. 650 Katana, 1000S, are some other models with low bars and shorter cables.

Well that sucks. I can shorten the cables easy enough. I can find the ferrules and end stops was just hoping to use a better than OEM cable on this one. No worries. Thanks for the input guys.
